J'arrive à San Diego vers 4h30 du matin. Eactarina se leve alors qu'elle dormait et vient me chercher a la station de bus. Je m'apprête à squatter une semaine chez elle. Apres l'epusiant Grand Canyon le passage chez Ecatarina est idéal. A quelques minutes de la frontière Mexicaine, San Diego est tellement paisible. Ville portuaire, la cote le sable fin, l'odeur iodée de la mer me rappelle la Bretagne ou j'ai grandit. Bon la grosse différence c'est que Sand Diego est aussi une grosse base militaire ce qui explique les hélicoptères, les avions, sous marin et porte-avion. Mais la ville reste néanmoins très sympathique. Je ferai bien un peu de surf mais je crois que Hawaii m'a définitivement brider quand il s'agit d'aller dans de l'eau en dessous de 25 degré.
Donc au programme pendant une semaine, relaxation, visite de la ville avec mon hôte qui est aussi ma guide privée et encore relaxation. Bonne bouffe, bon vins, ciné, des draps tous propres. Je sent un peu cette étape un peu le calme avant la tempête, pas dans un sens négatif mais c'est clair que de l'autre coté de la frontière mon voyage sera sûrement "perturbé". Je sent que je vais éclater de rire quand je vais devoir sortir première phrase avec mon espagnol rouillé.
Ecatarina travail pour un hôtel pendant la journée et le soir ce qui nous laisse la matine pour sortir. Ensuite je parcours les rues au hasard dans l'après midi. Une fois je me retrouve devant le stade de base-ball au moment ou un match commence. J'ai passé un an aux Etats Unis et je n'ai jamais vu un match base-ball ! c'est l'occasion !...Après 3h heures de jeux un un hot dog plus tard je comprend pourquoi je ne tenterai cette expérience qu'une seul fois dans ma vie. Si il y a des fan de base-ball, ne le prenez pas mal, c'est juste que c'est vraiment pas mon truc...Bon à la fin, comme on a apparemment gagné, il y a beau feu d'artifice qui me réconforte un peu.
Bon alors si vous voulez passer des vacances à la plage aux Etas-Unis (si vous n'avez pas les moyens d'aller à Hawaii évidement) je vous recommande vivement San Diego. Vous pouvez aussi passer voir Ecatarina dans son hôtel ou chez elle (je préciserai adresses et téléphone ahaha). Elle se fera un plaisir de vous présenter la ville et en échange vous pouvez lui cuisiner quelque chose. ;-)

I arrived in San Diego around 4:30 am. Eactarina gets up while she was sleeping and pick me up at the bus station. I'm about to crash one week in her place. After the exhausting Grand Canyon Ecatarina's place is ideal. A few minutes from the Mexican border, San Diego is so peaceful. Port city, the fine sand coast, the iodine smell of the sea reminds me of Britain where I grew up. Well... the big difference is that Sand Diego is also a large military base which explains the helicopters, aircraft, submarine and aircraft carrier. But the city is still very nice. I would do some surfing but I think Hawaii has definitely screw me up when it comes to go in the water below 25 degrees.
So the program for a week, relax, visit the city with my host who is also my private guide and again relaxation. Good food, good wine, cinema, clean sheets. I feel like this step is the calm before the storm, not in a negative sense but it is clear that at the other side of the border my trip will be certainly more "disturbed". I think I will burst out laughing when I will have to say my first sentence using my rusty Spanish.
Ecatarina works for a hotel during the afternoon and night which leaves us the morning to hang out. Then I walk the streets at random in the afternoon. Once, I found myself in front of the baseball stadium when a match is about to begin. I spent a year in the U.S. and I have never ever seen a baseball game! this is the opportunity! ... after 3 hours of games a hot dog later I understood why I will try this experiment only once in my life. If there is any baseball fan here, no offense, it's just that it's really not my thing ... At least at the end, as has we apparently won, there is a nice firework which comforts me a little.
Anyway if you wanna spend holidays at the beach to US (if you can not afford to go to Hawaii of course) I highly recommend San Diego. You can also meet Ecatarina in her hotel or at home (I will give addresses and phone later ahaha). She will be pleased to introduce the city and in exchange you can cook her something good. ;-)
Assessment: The girl with the Easter European accent was a perfect host and I will be happy to be the host next time. Thanx a lot !
